About Hokkaido Marathon 2025 Charity Entry

A "charity entry" is a race in which runners can earn a separate spot from the general participants by donating a certain amount. Since the 2015 race, Runners Support Hokkaido has been recruiting "charity entry runners" who donate more than 50,000 yen to participate. Donations raised by runners themselves or through calls from many people are donated to NPOs and other organizations in Hokkaido that work in the fields of "sports, culture, and community development," "disabilities and welfare," and "nature and the environment," and used as activity funds. Since the event is run by a certified NPO, donations are eligible for tax benefits. By the 2024 race, a total of 298 charity entry runners have donated and participated. A total of 15,035,400 yen has been provided to 124 organizations and businesses in Hokkaido to support their activities. The five 2025 charity entry options for donations, encompass the three specialist areas of nature and the environment, disabilities and welfare, and sports, culture and local development, Solaputi Kids' Camp and Hokkaido Marathon Clean Declaration(Japanese_Site). Donations are divided among the five categories as specified by runners at the time of entry.
Funds from runners choosing any of the three specialist areas will go to groups identified by the selection board after the event as contributing significantly to related activities in Hokkaido.
Ninety percent of donations will go to groups active in the specialist areas or to bodies specified by runners, and 10% will go to the NPO Runners Support Hokkaido to cover operating expenses.
*See the 2024 charity entry report for last year's results.
